Cooley Partner Named President-Elect of Legal Aid Society of San Diego
SAN DIEGO – March 12, 2009 – Cooley Godward Kronish LLP announced today that Anthony M. Stiegler, a partner in the Firm’s Litigation department, has been named president-elect of the Legal Aid Society of San Diego (LASSD). He will serve as president-elect until his two-year term as president begins in 2011.
The Legal Aid Society of San Diego has provided legal aid and representation to low-income individuals and disadvantaged communities since 1953. The organization handles thousands of legal matters annually through the LASSD Community Response Team client hotline, direct representation by lawyers and advocates, free legal clinics, private attorney pro bono activities and special programs.

Stiegler is a commercial and intellectual property trial lawyer, specializing in complex technology, life science and intellectual property matters and has been recognized as a top national IP litigator by Best Lawyers in America since 2006. He leads Cooley’s pro bono initiatives in San Diego, is a member of the firmwide pro bono committee and has served on the LASSD Board of Directors since 2005. Recently, he has been involved in several notable pro bono matters involving the American Civil Liberties Union and the National Prison Project. Stiegler has served on the board of the San Diego chapters of the Association of Business Trial Lawyers and the Federal Bar Association.
