Chris Durbin is a partner in the Commercial Litigation, Securities Litigation and White Collar and Regulatory Defense practice groups and a member of the Cooley Litigation department. He joined the Firm in 2001 and is resident in the Firm's Seattle office.
Mr. Durbin's practice encompasses a range of litigation matters in federal and state courts, including commercial, securities, intellectual property litigation, white-collar defense, and regulatory investigations.
Mr. Durbin's practice also focuses on federal and state appellate litigation. He has prepared and argued a wide variety of notices, motions, petitions, writs, and briefs in various federal and state courts of appeal.
Mr. Durbin left the Firm in 2005 to serve as judicial clerk to the Honorable John C. Coughenour of the United States District Court for the Western District of Washington, for whom he also served as a judicial extern in 2001. Mr. Durbin returned to the Firm in 2007 after completing a clerkship with the Honorable Robert R. Beezer of the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.

Mr. Durbin received a J.D., with honors, from the University of Washington School of Law in 2001. He was elected to Order of the Coif and served on the Moot Court Honor Board. Mr. Durbin also served as Managing Editor of the WASHINGTON LAW REVIEW. He received a B.A. in English literature, magna cum laude, from Gonzaga University in 1997.
Mr. Durbin is a member of the Washington State, California, and District of Columbia Bar Associations. He is admitted to practice before the United States Courts of Appeals for the First, Second, Fifth, Ninth, and Federal Circuits, as well as all United States District Courts in California and the Western District of Washington.
