Matthew Hemington, Partner

Matthew B. Hemington is a partner in the Emerging Companies practice group and a member of the Cooley Business department. He joined the Firm in 1990 and is resident in the Palo Alto office.

Mr. Hemington has gained substantial experience in the representation of emerging growth companies, venture capitalists, corporate investors and public companies.

Mr. Hemington's experience in representing emerging technology companies ranges from start-up incorporation and counseling to day-to-day representation of public companies.  He has assisted his clients with obtaining financing, technology and licensing matters, public offerings, mergers and acquisitions, strategic relationships and executive compensation matters.

Prior to attending law school, Mr. Hemington was a staff accountant in the San Francisco tax department of Arthur Andersen & Co.

Mr. Hemington received a law degree from the University of California, Los Angeles School of Law in 1990.  He completed his Bachelor's degree in Economics in 1985 at the University of California, Berkeley, where he graduated with honors and distinction.

Mr. Hemington is a member of the State Bar of California and American Bar Association.
