Peter H. Werner is a partner in Cooley's Business department. He joined the Firm in 2001 and is resident in the San Francisco office.
Peter's practice primarily focuses on the representation of technology companies and investors. He regularly assists clients with financings and mergers and acquisitions, in addition to entity formation, organization and governance matters, securities transactions, and SEC and stock exchange compliance and reporting.
Peter's representative clients include AngelList, Brand.net, BroadVision, Design Play Technologies, Ensighten, Flotype, ImagineH2O, Ingenuity Systems, InsideTrack, Intel-GE Care Innovations, LookFlow, Micromidas, NatureBox, Opera Software, salesforce.com, SeamlessReceipts, ShopSanity, Skyrockit, Syndero, TriNet, Yelp! and Zynga.
Investors Peter has recently represented include Anthos Capital, Bain Ventures, El Dorado Ventures, Founders Fund, General Catalyst Partners, Nanodimension, NEA, Oxantium Ventures, Serious Change, Sverica International and Sutter Hill Ventures.
Peter serves on the board of directors of the Full Circle Fund, a non-profit engaged philanthropy organization, and is a mentor at MuckerLab, a Los Angeles-based startup accelerator. Peter has been listed in Northern California Super Lawyers as a Northern California Rising Star (2010).
Peter received a J.D. in 2001 from the University of Chicago Law School, where he was a John M. Olin Law and Economics Fellow. Peter received a B.A. from the University of California at Berkeley in 1997.
Prior to law school, Peter worked as a paralegal in Cooley's Business department, and at Brobeck, Phleger & Harrison in its Business and Technology group. Peter is admitted to practice before the California bar and is a member of the American Bar Association and the Bar Association of San Francisco.
