Sean M. Clayton is a partner in the Cooley Business department. He joined the Firm in 2004 and is a resident in the San Diego office.
Mr. Clayton represents both public and privately-held companies in general corporate matters as well as a wide range of transactions, including venture capital financings, mergers and acquisitions and public offerings.
Prior to joining the Firm, Mr. Clayton served as a law clerk to the Honorable Irma E. Gonzalez of the United States District Court for the Southern District of California.
Mr. Clayton earned a J.D. with high honors in 2003 from Stanford Law School, where he was elected to the Order of the Coif. Mr. Clayton graduated summa cum laude from the University of California, San Diego, earning his B.A. in Political Science and Economics.
Mr. Clayton is a member of the State Bar of California.
